THE DOOR KNOCKER DIARIES A television comedy series. THELMA AND LOUISE MEET THE OFFICE Two quick-witted, hilarious, very different women find they are more alike than they realize when they join forces to fight the bad guy — the newly elected, crazed President Taylor. At the height of a divided America with Black Lives Matter and the METO Movement in full swing, two strangers: a head strong fifty-something black woman and a privileged forty-something white woman, dramatically shed their husbands and begin a new life together. This unexpected friendship, combined with newly shared political passions, play out on the road in a little RV. While they spread the word of Democracy through campaign "Door Knocking", and have heart to heart poignant campfire confessions, we learn not only of these two women's complexities but those of our fellow citizens. THE STORY Liberal minded, feminist leaning, borderline bully and middle class black woman, RUTHIE REYNOLDS (Wanda Sykes) is on the warpath. Armed with new information, she is now totally convinced her hen-pecked, doormat husband DOUG is having an affair. She has driven home from a friend's house at break-neck speed to look for evidence of his infidelity, the indisputable proof she would need to confront him with. But what she finds is way worse — literature (she refers to as political porn) and videos of his shocking support of newly sworn in President Taylor, the bane of Ruthie's existence! After months of bitching and yelling at Taylor in front of the TV together, she was positive she and Doug were on the same team. In a complete rage due to the mind-numbing revelation of his betrayal, Ruthie sets about claiming Doug's most prized possession — his shiny, new RV — all locked and loaded for a planned hunting trip with his other retired pals. Newly enlightened Ruthie in the driver's seat now of her freshly christened "Democracy or Bust" mobile (she spray painted the slogan on the back of the RV), peels out of the driveway leaving Doug and her old life behind. But before she barely gets out of the driveway, she twists the knife, she claims another one of Doug's prized possession — his beloved little dog Chester. Ruthie with Chester in tow, heads straight to the local headquarters of Senator Gwendoline Harris, the grand dame of Pennsylvania’s resistance movement and Ruthie's new found heroine. She eagerly signs up to volunteer — devote herself and the RV to the Cause. Ruthie's plan is to help this movement dedicated to the toppling of President Taylor's regime and crush his "Taylor Trash" followers, come hell or high water. Rookie "door knocker" Ruthie (aka Ruthless), meets trophy wife, ASHLEY WILLIAMS at one of her first canvassing stops. Ashley, wife of philandering, rich, handsome, chauvinist WARREN WILLIAMS, is lying face down on their back patio. Ruthie takes her for dead, which she is — dead drunk! Drinking to excess has become a daily occurrence for Ashley. She is miserable in the marriage she long ago gave up on, but is still dependent on the comfort and luxuries that her domineering husband so amply provides. While Ruthie is sobering Ashley up, she convinces her to join her in her fight for Democracy. Ashley agrees and the two ladies then take to the suburban, city and rural roads together. And they soon discover through their shared road adventures, that true friendship is not based on similarities, but the good, the bad and often, the ridiculous. As they meet other Americans from all walks of life, their friendship deepens and their differences diminish. This unlikely duo, these two charming, funny women, serve as our delightful guides on a ride that few people would dare to take — a ride into a future of possibilities, and daring adventures but also one of uncertainties and occasional longings for the past. Episodes will focus primarily on an eclectic assortment of hilarious characters and over-the-top celebrity cameos that appear from behind the knocked-on doors each week. Most episodes will include "campfire confessions" and sentimental flashbacks to Ruthie's and Ashley's pre-RV, pre-political lives. Story line inspired knock-knock jokes, and Ashley’s weekly addition to the RV’s exterior: think glue gunned rhinestone art work, will end each show. Ruthie and Ashley will bravely drive on each week to fulfill their pledge of being good warriors for their movement's systematic goal of ridding the world of President Taylor and his Taylor Trash devotees; one door, one knock, one house at a time!
